QS World University Rankings 2026
On June 19, 2025, Shakarim University was officially included in the QS World University Rankings 2026 - one of the most prestigious and influential global university rankings. Among them were 20 institutions from Kazakhstan, including three newcomers - and Shakarim University is proud to be one of them, entering the top 18% of the best universities in the world.
QS Asia University Rankings 2026
On November 4, 2025, the international higher education analytics agency QS Quacquarelli Symonds published the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, a list of the best universities in Asia. This ranking has become the most extensive in its history, featuring 1,529 universities from 25 countries and territories across the region, including 554 universities that entered the ranking for the first time. Shakarim University ranked 493rd in the Asian ranking, placing it among the top five universities that achieved the highest positions in their history of participation in this ranking.
QS Sustainability Rankings 2026
Shakarim University is featured in the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026, placed in the 1501+ band among 2,001 universities worldwide. Within the sustainability assessment framework, the University achieved strong performance across several key indicators:
- 5th place in Central Asia for Social Impact, reflecting the University’s contribution to social development and community engagement;
- 1st place in Central Asia in Environmental Research and Health & Wellbeing, highlighting its strengths in environmental research and wellbeing initiatives;
- 258th place in Asia for Governance, assessing the effectiveness of the University’s institutional management model.
THE Impact Rankings 2026
Shakarim University has reaffirmed its position in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, which assess universities’ contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the overall ranking, the University was placed in the 801–1000 band.
Shakarim University’s performance across the SDGs is as follows:
- SDG 2 – Zero Hunger: 201–300 band;
- SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: 301–400 band;
- SDG 4 – Quality Education: 401–600 band;
- SDG 5 – Gender Equality: 401–600 band;
- SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: 401–600 band;
- SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: 401–600 band;
- SDG 13 – Climate Action: 401–600 band;
- SDG 15 – Life on Land: 401–600 band;
- SDG 1 – No Poverty: 601–800 band;
- SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: 601–800 band;
- SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure: 601–800 band;
- SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: 601–800 band;
- SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: 601+ band;
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being: 801–1000 band;
- SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: 801–1000 band;
- SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: 801+ band;
A particularly notable achievement was the University’s performance in SDG 4 – Quality Education, where Shakarim University ranked 3rd among universities in Kazakhstan, placing it among the country’s leading higher education institutions in this category. Furthermore, the University was recognized among the Top 10 universities in Kazakhstan participating in the THE Impact Rankings 2026.

In 2025, Shakarim University made its debut in the prestigious global THE Impact Rankings, which assesses universities' contributions to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
GreenMetric World University Rankings 2025
According to the global UI GreenMetric "green" ranking, which assesses universities' commitment to developing ecological infrastructure, sustainable development, and environmental protection, Shakarim University has been ranked among the most environmentally friendly universities in the world. In the global list, it took the 538th position. This year, the assessment covered 1,745 universities from 105 countries. Among Kazakhstani universities, Shakarim University entered the top 5, strengthening its position as one of the national leaders in "green" education.

20th place among 97 universities in Kazakhstan in the ranking of universities by scientific publications according to the Independent Agency for Quality Assurance in Education.
QS Asia University Rankings 2023
The university was ranked #501–550 among 985 Asian universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2023. In terms of internationalization, the university also demonstrated strong performance in academic mobility, securing 52nd place among Asian universities for the number of students participating in academic mobility programs.
